A phobia is an abnormal, persistent and irrational fear. These extreme fears create stress and anxiety that can often interfere with a person’s lifestyle and happiness.
The disorders can be serious and are usually focused on an activity, situation, or object. Some examples are the fear of high places, flying, spiders, and clowns (being afraid of clowns is completely understandable). People who have these extreme fears cope by avoiding the object, activity, or situation.
Although they can be life-altering anxiety disorders, it doesn’t mean some of them aren’t strange and funny. Check out our alphabetical list of many uncommon and unusual conditions.
